Calculated in the browser

Days between dates

It counts the calendar gap and the weekdays. It does not take holidays out: the working calendar changes every year.

How it is calculated

Without the box “include both dates”, this is simply the difference in calendar days. With the box ticked, one day is added. Weekdays are Monday to Friday inside the range you chose.

Days = the date difference, plus 1 if both dates are included

Where the numbers come from

  • Start
  • End
  • Include both dates

Example

From 1 through 5 January 2024, inclusive, is 5 days, and all of them are weekdays, because 1 January 2024 was a Monday.

Questions

Is the leap day counted?

Yes. The count follows the calendar. 29 February is included when it falls inside the range.

Why are the holidays still there?

The list of holidays and moved days is settled separately. The calculator does not store a ruling for every year.

Does date order matter?

No. The later date and the earlier date swap places on their own.
