Ideal gas

Leave exactly one field empty.

Pa
m³
mol
K

How it is calculated

The gas is ideal: the molecules have no volume of their own and do not interact. Temperature must be in kelvin. Zero Celsius is 273,15 K.

PV = nRT, R = 8,314 J/(mol·K)

Where the numbers come from

  • Pressure — unit in the field: Pa
  • Volume — unit in the field: m³
  • Quantity — unit in the field: mol
  • Temperature — unit in the field: K

Example

1 mol at 300 K in a volume of 1 m³ gives a pressure of 1 × 8,314 × 300 / 1 = 2494,2 Pa.

Questions

How do I leave a field empty?

Clear the number. Zero means a zero you typed in, and a positive result often cannot come out of it.

Liters and atmospheres?

Convert first: 1 L = 0,001 m³, 1 atm = 101325 Pa.

Air in the room?

For an estimate you can, if you take the temperature in kelvin and do not expect moist air to be exact.
