Fence

A post stands at each end of the line, so there is one more post than there are bays.

m

How it is calculated

If the length divides by the spacing exactly, no spare piece appears. Take a gate that sits on the line out of the length yourself.

Bays = round up(length / spacing), posts = bays + 1

Where the numbers come from

  • Length — unit in the field: m
  • Height — unit in the field: m
  • Post spacing — unit in the field: m

Example

20 m at a spacing of 2,5 m and a height of 1,8 m is 8 bays, 9 posts, and 36 m² of fencing.

Questions

A closed perimeter?

On a closed loop there are as many posts as bays. Subtract one post from the answer.

Uneven spacing?

Calculate the sections separately.

Are the joists included in the area?

No, the area is the panel, length by height.
