How it is calculated

Cutting can eat more of the allowance when there are many narrow offcuts. The formula cannot see that pattern.

Sheets = round up(area × (1 + waste) / sheet area)

Where the numbers come from

  • Area — unit in the field: m²
  • Sheet length — unit in the field: m
  • Sheet width — unit in the field: m
  • Waste — unit in the field: %

Example

30 m² with 10% waste and a 3 m² sheet needs 11 sheets.
