Calculated in the browser

Flip a coin

A fair coin: heads and tails are equally likely. A run shorter than 40 tosses is written out in full.

How it is calculated

Each toss compares a random number from 0 to 1 with a threshold of 0,5. The generator comes from the browser. Earlier tosses do not change the next one.

Heads if the random number is < 0,5

Where the numbers come from

  • How many flips

Example

Ten tosses rarely land exactly 5:5. The calculator shows the tally you actually got, not what “should” happen.

Questions

Can I use it to draw lots?

For settling a household argument, yes. A lottery that involves money needs written rules, not a browser page.

Why is the series not shown at 100 flips?

A long string is hard to read. Only the head and tail totals remain. Up to 40 tosses, the run is shown.

Does the coin have a memory?

No. Five heads in a row do not raise the chance of tails on the sixth toss.
