How it is calculated
The units must be the same: all in ohms, or all in kilohms. The calculator does not convert them.
In series R = R1 + R2, in parallel 1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2
Where the numbers come from
- Connection
- First — unit in the field: Ω
- Second — unit in the field: Ω
- Third — unit in the field: Ω
Example
Two resistors of 10 Ω in series give 20 Ω. In parallel they give 5 Ω.
Questions
Is the third resistor required?
No. An empty field is skipped.
Zero ohms?
That is a short circuit. In parallel with zero, the combined resistance is zero as well, but a zero in the field is not accepted as a working resistor.
More than three?
Join part of the circuit first, and enter the resistance you have already found as the third one.
