Trip cost

It adds the fuel and the toll stretches, then divides by the passengers.

km
L/100 km
currency units/L
people

How it is calculated

Litres = distance / 100 × consumption. Cost = litres × price + tolls. Splitting among people does not change the price of the fuel. It only changes each share.

Cost = distance / 100 × consumption × price + tolls

Where the numbers come from

  • Distance — unit in the field: km
  • Usage — unit in the field: L/100 km
  • Fuel price — unit in the field: currency units/L
  • Toll roads
  • How many people are splitting — unit in the field: people

Example

500 km, a use of 8 L/100 km, petrol at 60 currency units. The fuel is 40 L, which is 2 400 currency units. Split four ways that is 600 currency units each, if there are no tolls.

Questions

Is the car's depreciation included?

No. Only the fuel, and the sum you type in for toll roads. Parking can go in that field too.

Use for the trip there and back?

Enter the full distance, including the return trip if that is yours too.

Does the driver count as a passenger?

Enter everyone who is splitting the cost, driver included. The calculator does not take the driver out itself.
