How it is calculated
The tangent is not defined where the cosine is zero, for example at 90°. That is what the calculator writes.
Radians = degrees × π / 180
Where the numbers come from
- Angle — unit in the field: °
Example
The sine of 30° is 0,5. The tangent of 45° is 1.
Questions
Can the angle be in radians?
The field expects degrees. 180° is π radians.
A negative angle?
Yes. The functions are odd or even in the usual way: sine changes sign, cosine does not.
Why 0,499999 instead of 0,5?
Sometimes the last digit shows a binary fraction. For 30° the result should be close to 0,5.
