How it is calculated
Volume is the edge cubed. The surface is six squares. The space diagonal runs from one corner through the interior to the opposite corner, and it equals the edge times √3.
V = a³, S = 6a²
Where the numbers come from
- Edge
Example
Edge 2. Volume 8, surface 24, diagonal 2√3 ≈ 3,46.
Questions
Is this the diagonal of a face or of the whole cube?
Of the whole cube. A face diagonal equals a√2, and it is not shown on its own here.
Will it work for a room?
Only when length, width, and height are equal. Otherwise use the concrete tool, or simply multiply the three measurements.
Area units?
If the edge is in metres, the area is in square metres and the volume is in cubic metres.
