How it is calculated
Thickness is in millimetres and the sides are in metres. For aluminium the result is about a third as large.
kg = length × width × thickness × 7850
Where the numbers come from
- Length — unit in the field: m
- Width — unit in the field: m
- Thickness — unit in the field: mm
Example
A sheet of 2×1 m and 2 mm thick weighs 31,4 kg.
Questions
Several sheets?
Multiply the mass by the quantity, or lengthen it if you are cutting from a strip.
Galvanized?
The thin zinc layer is not separated out of 7850.
A circle cut from a sheet?
Calculate the blank rectangle, not the finished circle.
