How it is calculated
Turning a density you already know between kg/m³ and g/cm³ is what the density converter does. Here you enter a mass and a volume.
ρ = m / V
Where the numbers come from
- Mass — unit in the field: kg
- Volume — unit in the field: m³
Example
200 kg in 0,1 m³ gives 2000 kg/m³, or 2 g/cm³.
Questions
Grams and milliliters?
Convert into kilograms and cubic metres, or remember that g/mL equals g/cm³ as a number. This screen expects kg and m³.
Bulk density or true density?
Whichever volume you measured. Loose sand and a lump of the same mineral give different numbers.
Zero volume?
Division is not allowed.
