How it is calculated
Measure in the same way each time, at the wrist or with one and the same sensor. What counts as fine differs from one method to another.
Drop = peak − heart rate after one minute
Where the numbers come from
- Peak heart rate — unit in the field: bpm
- Heart rate after one minute — unit in the field: bpm
Example
A peak of 160 and 140 a minute later is a drop of 20 beats.
Questions
Is two minutes later all right?
The formula simply subtracts two numbers. The caption “one minute later” describes the usual test, not a limit on the field.
A negative decrease?
That happens when the second reading is higher than the first. The calculator shows a minus.
Does this replace a doctor?
No. Especially if your heart rate feels unusual, or there is chest pain.
