How it is calculated
That share is of the water before the salt dissolves. As a percent of the finished solution, there would be a little less salt.
Salt = water × percent / 100

Example

Questions
A tablespoon of salt?
After the grams, open the kitchen measures and turn the salt into spoons.
A strong brine?
The percent can be raised while it stays under 40. Above that the calculator stops, so a typo is not taken as real.
Does sugar syrup work the same way?
The formula is the same, but the field is called salt. For a syrup, read the grams as sugar.
