Dry and cooked rice

The water that was absorbed sits inside the factor.

What is known
g

How it is calculated

Long-grain and round-grain rice take up different amounts of water. 2,5 is a starting estimate, not a law of the variety.

Cooked = dry × factor

Where the numbers come from

  • What is known
  • Mass — unit in the field: g
  • How many times heavier it becomes

Example

100 g of dry rice at a factor of 2,5 gives 250 g cooked.

Questions

Volume in glasses?

The screen calculates mass. For cups, see the kitchen measures.

From cooked back to dry?

Switch the direction: mass is divided by the factor.

Is rinsed rice lighter?

If water is already sitting on the surface, weigh it after it drains, and do not change the factor twice by guesswork.
