How it is calculated
Oil for frying is not converted this way. Smoke point and taste matter there. The factor 0,8 is for baking, where butter also carries water.
Vegetable oil = butter × 0,8

Questions
The reverse conversion?
Switch the direction. You will need more butter than vegetable oil.
Coconut oil?
In fat content it is closer to butter. This factor is for a thin vegetable oil.
Salt in the butter?
The formula does not account for it.
